15 association bodies, key industry stakeholders and RTOs attended the first Frame and Truss Working group facilitated by ForestWorks in Melbourne. These stakeholders reviewed the timber manufactured products skill standards and discussed career pathways for frame and truss employees.
The agenda focused primarily on identifying gaps or issues associated with career pathways in the sector and to other sectors. By addressing and promoting this issue to jobseekers and current employees, it is hoped that more people will be retained in the industry.
It would also have the flow on effect of making the sector more attractive to job-seekers – reducing the current perception of it being a stepping-stone to a career in the building industry.
