About Us

Who we are 

ForestWorks is a bi-partite, not-for-profit, expert representative of learning and skill development in the forest, wood, paper and timber products industry. ForestWorks performs a range of industry-wide functions acting as the channel between industry, Government and the Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) departments. ForestWorks’ goal is to assist industry with their skills development objectives through national industry skills standards and qualifications.

ForestWorks covers all industry sectors including:

  • Forest Growing & Management
  • Harvesting & Haulage
  • Sawmilling & Processing
  • Timber Product Manufacturing (including, roof truss, wall frames, door and window manufacturing)
  • Wood Panel/Board Production and Manufacturing
  • Pulp and Paper Manufacturing
  • Timber Merchandising

ForestWorks has the industry support, membership, demonstrated leadership and expert capacity to lead a wide range of skills development initiatives for the industry. Through its members and networks, ForestWorks has access and input to a wide range of other networks and organizations throughout the Asia Pacific region and globally.

Industry Skills Council Role
ForestWorks is one of 11 Industry Skills Councils (ISCs). ISCs build partnerships between industry and government in order to assist Australia to develop a highly skilled workforce. » more

Board of Directors
The ForestWorks Board consists of six people elected by ForestWorks members to focus on corporate governance, company policies, finance and general management including the SEC. Directors contribute their industry knowledge, expertise and time to the management of ForestWorks operations and the strategic direction of skills development, leading to benefits for the whole industry. » more
Company Members
ForestWorks exists to represent the skills development and training interests of the industry. Its activities aim to ensure that skills development and training solutions for industry are effective, accessible, relevant and of high quality. » more
Skills and Employment Council
The ForestWorks Skills and Employment Council (SEC) is one of the few national forums where leaders from all industry sectors and the industry union, meet on a regular basis to develop common approaches, through consensus, to industry skills issues. » more
State activities
ForestWorks has branches in Victoria, Queensland, NSW and Tasmania. » more
ForestWorks team
ForestWorks has branches in Victoria, NSW, Queensland and Tasmania and industry committees in each of those states that provide direction to the State Managers, Project Managers and Officers to carry out various components of projects. All with the aim of delivering measurable outcomes to funding agencies. This ensures that Forestworks delivers what industry needs nationally but also locally at a state level. » more
