About Us

Who we are 

ForestWorks is a bi-partite, not-for-profit, expert representative of learning and skill development in the forest, wood, paper and timber products industry. ForestWorks performs a wide range of industry wide functions acting as the channel between industry, Government and the Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) departments.

ForestWorks covers all industry sectors including:

  • Forest Growing & Management
  • Harvesting & Haulage
  • Sawmilling & Processing
  • Timber Product Manufacturing (including, roof truss, wall frames, door and window manufacturing)
  • Wood Panel/Board Production and Manufacturing
  • Pulp and Paper Manufacturing
  • Timber Merchandising

ForestWorks has the industry support, membership, demonstrated leadership and expert capacity to lead a wide range of skills development initiatives for the industry. Through its members and networks, ForestWorks has access and input to a wide range of other networks and organizations throughout the Asia Pacific region and globally.

  • Site Managers and Supervisors

ForestWorks is committed to advocate for and to work with all of the sectors of the forest, wood, paper and timber products industry, representing industry and providing expert services to industry and related areas of government in skills development and training. » more
Industry Skills Council Role
ForestWorks is one of 11 Industry Skills Councils (ISCs). ISCs build partnerships between industry and government in order to assist Australia to develop a highly skilled workforce. » more
Our structure

Board of Directors
The ForestWorks Board consists of six people elected by ForestWorks members to focus on corporate governance, company policies, finance and general management including the SEC. Directors contribute their industry knowledge, expertise and time to the management of ForestWorks operations and the strategic direction of skills development, leading to benefits for the whole industry. » more
Company Members
ForestWorks exists to represent the skills development and training interests of the industry. Its activities aim to ensure that skills development and training solutions for industry are effective, accessible, relevant and of high quality. » more
Skills and Employment Council
The ForestWorks Skills and Employment Council (SEC) is one of the few national forums where leaders from all industry sectors and the industry union, meet on a regular basis to develop common approaches, through consensus, to industry skills issues. » more
State activities
ForestWorks has branches in Victoria, NSW and Tasmania. » more
ForestWorks team
ForestWorks activities are carried out by a team of staff comprising of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Branch Managers in New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria, an Operations Manager, a Financial Manager, Project Managers, Project Officers and Administrative Support. » more
