ForestWorks meets with NARA to develop national skill assessment tools

ForestWorks is in dialogue with National Audit and Registration Agency (NARA) to discuss how ForestWorks Assessment Plan System can receive the Australian Quality Training Framework compliance at a national level, rather than the current state Training Authority compliance. This is particularly important for Training Providers (RTOs) that operate in more than one Australian State or Territory. Learn More!

VET pathways into the Foresters Masters Program

Michael Hartman, Jane Bartier and Antoinette Hewitt (ForestWorks) met with Melbourne University Masters Program for Foresters National Co-ordinator Lyndall Bull, to discuss VET pathways into the Masters Program. ForestWorks is also considering exploring how this program could contribute to the VET training pathways. Up skilling existing workers through diploma and vocational graduate pathways may be one avenue of providing more potential entrants to the Masters program. Learn More!

ForestWorks maps tasks for Forestry Plantations Queensland workers

Forestworks Queensland has assisted Forestry Plantations Queensland in the operation of their EBA Award by mapping every task that forestry workers undertake at various levels within their EBA awards structure. Learn More!

New website shows the diversity of jobs in plantations

The Plantations 2020 program recently launched www.treedudes.com.au. This website presents interviews with young people with careers in the plantation industry. The interviews show the real economic and environmental benefits that come with the Australian plantation sector and highlight the diverse and rewarding employment opportunities. Treedudes are also available on Facebook. Learn More!

ForestWorks mentoring forestry employees

ForestWorks Tasmania has been instrumental in enrolling nine forestry employees in the Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAA) program through the Productivity Places Program. ForestWorks supported the submission by Willson Training. Damian Peirce, ForestWorks Skills Development Officer will be mentoring the participants to ensure their completion of the course.

‘Try a trade’ with ForestWorks

ForestWorks Tasmania, on behalf of the industry, participated in the final two ‘Try a Trade’ events held in Devonport and Launceston. The events give students the opportunity to perform a specific industry task which provides an insight into the various trades and professions available to them as school leavers. Learn More!
