ForestWorks announces first of many conference speakers

ForestWorks is pleased to announce that the Hon. Richard Colbeck (Opposition Senator for Tasmania), Robin Shreeve (CEO, Skills Australia), Jim Adams (CEO, Timber Communities Australia) and Ian Boyd (CEO, New Zealand FITEC) will be speaking at the industry conference Forest Futures: Innovations | Jobs | Investment conference to be held in 24-25 November 2009.  Learn More!

 

Second day speakers also announced

Professor Syd Shea (Notre Dame University), Robert Eastman (IndustryEdge) and Peter Mitchell (South East Fibre Exports) were also announced for the First Super Biomass Energy Investors’ Workshop on day two of the conference. Tasmanian Industry Downturn Results in Changes for the SET Project

ForestWorks CEO Michael Hartman and Tasmanian State Manager Wayne Foss met with Tasmanian industry leaders in Launceston and Hobart last week about the significant impact the global market has had on the Tasmanian industry and how this reflects on the priorities for the Skills Enhancement and Training (SET) Project in 2010. ForestWorks negotiates Recognition of Prior Learning for displaced workers

Queensland and Tim Isaac CEO of Forest Industry Training and Education Consortium (FITEC) met with the manager of the Burnett Sawmill and instigated a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program for the 24 workers who will be displaced by the green mill closure on 5 October 2009. Learn More!

ForestWorks providing opportunity to inmates at Lotus Glen

ForestWorks Queensland Manager Bruce Harle and Tim Issacs CEO of FITEC met with the director of the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre to discuss the offer local business Ravenshoe Timbers made regarding employment for inmates. Inmates who have successfully completed their training and obtained their statements of attainment, may be eligible for early parole, if they are offered employment at Ravenshoe Timbers.  Learn More!

ForestWorks supports Tasmanian Skills Institute submission under the Productivity Places Program

ForestWorks supported a submission by the Tasmanian Skills Institute for the Productivity Places Program for 10 Certificate IV Forest Operations places and 5 Diploma of Forest and Forest Product places.Learn More!

ForestWorks launches Flexible Traineeship brochure

ForestWorks announced the launch of a brochure outlining the Flexible Traineeship pilot project currently being undertaken in the Frame and Truss sector. The flexible traineeship model will be a step-by-step clearly defined process on how employers can employ a trainee or apprentice and then get them trained and working safely and competently in industry.
