the Tasmanian industry and how this reflects on the priorities for the Skills

ForestWorks negotiates Recognition of Prior Learning for
displaced workers
Queensland and Tim Isaac CEO of Forest Industry Training
and Education Consortium (FITEC) met with the manager of the Burnett Sawmill
and instigated a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program for the 24
workers who will be displaced by the green mill closure on 5 October 2009. Learn More!
ForestWorks providing opportunity to inmates at Lotus Glen
ForestWorks Queensland Manager Bruce Harle and Tim Issacs
CEO of FITEC met with the director of the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre to
discuss the offer local business Ravenshoe Timbers made regarding employment
for inmates. Inmates who have successfully completed their training and
obtained their statements of attainment, may be eligible for early parole, if

ForestWorks supported a submission by the Tasmanian Skills
Institute for the Productivity Places Program for 10 Certificate IV Forest
Operations places and 5 Diploma of Forest and Forest Product places.Learn More!

the Flexible Traineeship pilot project currently being undertaken in the
Frame and Truss sector. The flexible traineeship model will be a step-by-step
clearly defined process on how employers can employ a trainee or apprentice
