Skill standards are the benchmarks set by industry for developing and maintaining the skills of its workforce. They set out the knowledge and skills required for people to be effective in their job.
The national skill standards for the forest wood, paper and timber products industries identify safety, quality and productivity as paramount.
These industry skill standards are reflected in the units of competency in the training package but it is by a rigorous and nationally consistent assessment system that skill standards are enforced.
To facilitate a nationally consistent approach to assessment for the forest industry, Forestworks has established the Forest Industry Assessment Plan System (FIAPS).
This network brings together trainers and assessors from industry and training organisations who have input into the development of assessment materials and are responsible for their ongoing review and improvement. Assessment plans have been developed for each unit of competence to ensure quality and consistent assessments to agreed industry standards.
Issues Register ForestWorks’ Training Packages Issues Register allows users and stakeholders to provide feedback and raise issues to inform the Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP).
