Writing a job advertisement

The objective of a job advertisement is to make the right prospective employee want to submit a resume for consideration. It is, above all else, a sales document designed to attract the right employee for your position.

A good ad is relatively short and compelling. 

The basic components of a job advertisement are:

  • job title
  • location
  • company description
  • opportunity description
  • opportunity requirements
  • reporting (if any)
  • closing sell
  • contact info

Harvesting Manager

Tumut, New South Wales

is Australia's leading integrated forestry and timber company. Enjoying unprecedented growth and expansion, we seek an experienced Harvesting Manager to lead our harvesting activities in Tumut.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide effective leadership and hands-on management of contracted harvesting and transport operations to ensure delivers on its’ sales commitments.

Key areas of responsibility include preparation of harvest plans, scheduling of harvest capacity, effective cost control and ensuring harvest and transport operations fully comply with internal and external policy, legislation and standards, particularly as they relate to safety, health and environment (SH&E).

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
•    strong leadership and management skills with a proven track record in managing a large scale harvesting or forestry operation
•    sound business acumen and commercial judgement in relation to managing contracted suppliers
•    effective negotiation and communication skills
•    the ability to interact with people working in different environments and at all levels of the organisation.

Essential requirements include formal tertiary qualifications in forestry or agriculture and ideally five years experience in forestry harvesting and forestry management. Where applicants have no tertiary qualifications - at least seven years experience in harvesting and forestry management.

This exciting and varied role will report directly to the National Harvesting
Manager located in Sydney.
