Truss and Frame Qualification Structure

The development of the Truss and Frame Qualification Structure as part of the Forest and Forest Products Industry Training Package (FPI05) is being co-ordinated by Michael Littlechild, ForestWorks Training Package Developer.

Project activities:

  • Identification and examination of existing units/standards and current pathways in the Training Package related to the truss and frame sector, in particular, estimators and detailers.
  • ForestWorks has visited truss and frame workplaces to:
    • clarify job roles and the knowledge and skills required for these positions
    • discuss how the jobs are currently included in the Training Package
    • review existing pathways and improved pathways.
  • Discuss and gain feedback from industry and RTOs via email, face-to-face or via the ForestWorks website on current units/standards and pathways and other sector relevant issues related to the review.

Truss and Frame Qualification and Competency Standards Development

ForestWorks is providing industry the opportunity to give feedback on the revised Truss and Frame qualifications and competency standards.  This can be done by reviewing the relevant documents from the Resources section and emailing your suggested changes to mlittlechild@forestworks.com.au

Update February 2010

The Truss and Frame Working Group met on the 8th February 2010 and gave provisional endorsement to the Qualifications and Competency Standards.

Timelines

Work on the Qualifications and Competency Standards is expected to be completed by the end of March 2010.
